Doctorate (Dr. rer. nat.)
General information
The requirement for submitting an application to initiate a Doctoral Examination Procedure is a successful registration as a doctoral candidate at the Faculty of Natural Sciences (FNW). The following disciplines are represented at the FNW: Biology, Psychology and Physics.
Admission Process (Registration)
Doctoral candidates are responsible for handing in the complete application documents. The requirements for admission as a doctoral candidate (registration) are defined in the FNW Doctoral Degree Regulations. Please take note of the Official Announcement and the additional information on the admission process.

All forms are required as originals and will only be accepted with complete signatures and stamps. Forms can be submitted by (in-house) mail or in person ( upon prior appointment) at the doctoral office, see contact box.
A specific notification of the completed registration will not be issued. Candidates will be informed in writing if conditions are issued.
Application for changing supervisior
If a change of supervisor is desired or necessary due to the departure of the supervisor, the faculty must be informed. This also applies to a change of topic and subject.

Initiation of a Doctoral Examination Procedure
General information
An application for the initiation of a doctoral procedure is only possible with successful admission and fulfilment of conditions, if stipulated. The Doctoral Degree Regulations recognise the submission of a monograph. As an exception to this, it may be examined on request whether the requirements for a cumulative form are met. The examination and decision is made by the Faculty Council of the FNW. The requirements can be found in the doctoral degree regulations (§2 [5]).

Required documents
The submission of documents takes place appointment-based in the doctoral office, see contact box. In order to check for completion prior to submission, please provide the documents as individual PDFs (based on the checklist). If the data volume is exceeded, the use of the OVGU cloud is recommended. Data transfer via external data carriers (USB sticks, etc.) is not possible.
Habilitation (Dr. rer. nat. habil.)
If a habilitation procedure is requested, an appointment-based counselling consultation is recommended. Contact details can be found in the box. Please take note of the habilitation regulations.
